Working with photography my practice is based in the observation of movement exploring the sensations that exist in our pace and energy as we move in the world.
My own experience of movement has been heavily influenced by numerous bouts of arthritis from a young age. When an every day given, like walking, is suddenly taken away, it focuses the mind in a different way. If you are lucky enough to have it returned the joy and pleasure of every step is quite literally untold. These experiences have had a profound effect on my perception as well as direction in life. My health redirected my career from an active photographer to a seated film editor, where I developed my skills in the different methods of recording and representing time and motion.
By applying traditional film making techniques to a stills camera I am able to achieve an impression of the energetic state as well as a physical contrast between observer and the changing speeds and energies of the world I live in.
